VUKOVJE, May 15 (Hina) - Inhabitants of the village of Vukovje
(in the Daruvar municipality, about 100 km. E of the Croatian
capital) and the refugees from Bosnia-Herzegovina, sheltered in
the area, expressed their outrage because of the heinous murder
of the five villagers of Vukovje that had happened last
Wednesday.
230 villagers and immigrants from Bosnia-Herzegovina signed
a protest petition. Among other things the petition says that
"We are completely unprotected although we are, supposedly, kept
safe by the U.N. Protection Forces (UNPROFOR). Since UNPROFOR has
been deployed in the area, several heinous murders over Croats
have been committed here by our former neighbours Serbs, and now
perpetrators of such crimes. That is why we require the immediate
departure of UNPROFOR, since we are so unprotected besides its
presence."
