ZAGREB, May 6 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic and US
ambassador to Croatia Peter Galbraith on Friday signed a bilateral
agreement on economic and technical assistance.
Minister Granic said the agreement was of great economic and
political importance. "After the Washington Agreement and the
Tdujman-Clinton meeting, this is the most important event marking
the relations between the US and Croatia," Minister Granic said.
Noting that the agreement did not cover direct financing,
Ambassador Galbraith said it indicated American willingness to
extend the existing cooperation with Croatia to economic and
technical assistance. He went on to say that today's agreement was
a tangible result of the new relationship established between the
US and Croatia after the signing of the Washington agreement.
