ZOVIK, May 5 (Hina) - On the Brcko battlefield (northern Bosnia-
Herzegovina) the Serb aggressors fired 10 artillery shells at
civilian targets in the western and southeastern parts of the Brcko
free zone in the last 24 hours, reported the local command of the
Croatian Defence Council (HVO) on Thursday afternoon.
Through a corridor linking the Serb-held areas in B-H and
Croatia to Serbia proper with its narrowest part on the Brcko
battlefield the Serb aggressors are constantly transporting their
infantry and artillery reinforcement. NATO airplanes have started
today to overfly the Brcko free zone controlled by the HVO and the
Army of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
"Military observers are being positioned along the
confrontation line in the Brcko crisis area," U.N, Protection Force
(UNPROFOR) spokesman Matthew Nerzig said at today's press-
conference in Zagreb. He added that four military observers had
arrived in the area under Croat control last week, whereas two
groups with eleven and five observers respectively were deployed in
the area under control of the B-H army.
The UNPROFOR head for civilian affairs, Sergio Vieira de
Mello visited Brcko on Thursday to hold talks with Bosnian Serbs on
deployment of UNPROFOR observes in the area under Serb control as
soon as possible, said the UNPROFOR spokesman today in Zagreb.
