PRISTINA, March 6 (Hina) - The decision of the Serbian authorities
to dissolve the Albanological institute in Pristina on Kosovo
caused aggravation among Albanian inhabitants of that province.
An official statement of the Albanological institute stressed
"Dissolution of the only remained cultural institution with the
Albanian national features proves the sinister designs of the
Serbian regime to suppress all that has the national
characteristics of Albanians and to prevent Albanian intellectuals
to be engaged in scientific and scholar work, representing measures
of genocide over the Albanian people."
The Kosovo committee for the protection of the human rights
and freedoms forwarded a letter to the UNESCO director, Federico
Mayor, in which it is said that the committee considers dissolution
of the Albanological institute by the Serbian authorities to be "an
act of violence over Albanians and all who are interested in the
Albanian studies."
Recently the Serb authorities already dissolved the Kosovo
Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Institute for the History of
Kosovo and other important cultural and scientific institutions of
Kosovo.
