PRESS CONFERENCE BY "CONGRESS OF BOSNIAN CROATS" IN SARAJEVO

Autor:
SARAJEVO, Feb 7 (Hina) - Representatives at the meeting of Bosnian Croats, called by the organizers as "Congress of the Croats of Bosnia-Herzegovina", held a press conference today in Sarajevo. They informed the journalists that the "Croatian national council" was established at yesterday's "Congress of Bosnian Croats". They also said that documents on the arrangement of B-H as an integral and decentralized state were adopted and that the "Congress" would send its delegation to the next Geneva talks. The "declaration", primarily demanding an immediate ceasing of war in B-H and rejecting previous international proposals to the solution of the B-H crisis, was adopted at the meeting in Sarajevo attended by 362 delegates. Adopted also was a decision according to which "the Congress, too, represents the interests of Bosnian Croats, since the representatives elected by the Croatian Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia cannot represent all the Croats in B-H". The newly elected president of the "Croatian national council" Ivo Komsic, member of the B-H Presidency, presented to journalists a plan which is to be offered by the "Congress" at the international negotiations. In the first option of the plan, 17 cantons would have complete autonomy and have a joint federal parliament, while Sarajevo, Mostar and Banja Luka would be ex territorial areas with mixed population. The second option would allow the cantons with national majority to form national republics - Bosnian, Croat and Serb - and the republics to form one federal state. Komsic added that he seriously counted on the support by USA, Germany, Austria, Turkey and Vatican. 072008 MET feb 94
