ZAGREB, Feb 6 (Hina) - Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign
Minister Dr. Mate Granic expressed on Sunday his conviction that
the European Community would not impose sanction on Croatia.
"I believe no sanctions will be ... Denmark will propose
imposing sanctions, but we believe they will not be accepted, it is
possible that discussion will be raised on suspending certain
privileges," said Minister Granic in his interview with the
Croatian Television, commenting on Denmark's announcement to
request that the Ministerial Council of the European Union, which
has a session tomorrow, should consider possible imposing of
sanction on Croatia.
Commenting on the Presidential Statement of the U.N. Security
Council, Granic said that "it is additional pressure on all three
sides, including especially Croatia".
Granic added that Croatia is ready and willing to undertake
all necessary efforts aimed at establishment of peace and that
Croatia is willing to accept the control of the border between
Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia, and then control over all its
military units, and it will be proposed to the Croatian Defence
Council (HVO) to do the same, what can mean the invitation of the
international inspection and monitoring.
Considering the suggestion for a meeting between Tudjman and
Izetbegovic Croatian Foreign Minister stated that the Italian side
was ready to organize such meeting, whereas it had been already
agreed with the Bosnian side that first Silajdzic and Granic should
hold a meeting in Geneva. In case their meeting yielded some
results, Tudjman and Izetbegovic should hold talks.
Commenting on the assemblies of Croats in Sarajevo and Livno,
Dr Granic estimated both meetings to be the assemblies of the unity
of the Croatian people in Bosnia-Herzegovina and that they would
not inflict harm on the Croatian official politics, neither on the
essential Croatian interest in B-H.
