ZAGREB, Feb 1 (Hina) - A 10-truck Red Cross convoy reached Zenica
on Tuesday, said a statement issued by the International Committee
of the Red Cross. The convoy, which is the first ICRC relief convoy
to reach the cut-off town of Zenica from Zagreb since 20 December,
delivered 186 tonnes of relief supplies including 4,200 litres of
fuel and 600 litres of kerosene, food, blankets and medical
supplies, said the statement.
The convoy was able to transit through Bosnian Serb-controlled
territories following an agreement reached in Pale on 27 January
1994. Under this agreement, the ICRC will be able to sent regular
convoys to Zenica and other areas, in conformity with the usual
ICRC criteria including needs assessment and strict monitoring of
the assistance which is distributed completely impartially to all
victims of the conflict, said the statement.
A second ten-truck convoy is planned to arrive in Zenica on
Thursday.
