GENEVA, Jan 17 (Hina) - Co-chairmen of the International Peace
Conference on Former Yugoslavia Lord David Owen and Thorvald
Stoltenberg have returned to Geneva from Athens, where they held
the first meeting with the Greek leadership since Greece took over
the rotating presidency of the European Community.
Immediately upon arrival, the co-chairmen met with foreign
ministers of the countries members of the Islamic Conference
contact group for Bosnia-Herzegovina. The Organisation of the
Islamic Conference (OIC) held a session on Bosnia-Herzegovina on
Sunday and Monday.
Following the meeting with Owen and Stoltenberg, OIC
representatives met with the Russian President's special envoy for
former Yugoslavia, Vitaly Churkin. Before the meeting, Churkin
noted that Russia had voted for the resolution allowing the use of
force in Bosnia-Herzegovina, adding that Russia would, if need
arose, support a military action.
OIC foreign ministers met on Monday with UN Secretary-General
Boutros Boutros-Ghali, expressing their discontent with the UN
policy in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
According to the Conference's spokesman, John Mills, the co-
chairmen will meet with Boutros-Ghali later in the afternoon. The
Secretary-General is also meeting with senior UN officials to
discuss possible air strikes in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
