MOSTAR COUNCILLORS DID NOT APPEAR AT COUNCIL SESSION

ZAGREB, May 31 (Hina) - Mostar city council members, elected in 1990, are to convene today at the headquarters of the European Administration of Mostar. During the war, the city was administered by HVO and Bosnian army bodies. This meeting of the City Council has been organised by the European Administration of Mostar in a bid to restore normal civilian life in the city. Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) councillors and some SDA (Party of Democratic Action) councillors living in the western part of Mostar have already arrived at the European Administration seat. But most of the SDA councillors have so far stayed away, demanding that the session be held in the eastern part of city. Under the Mostar Protocol on the Implementation of the Bosnian Federation, municipal authorities are to be constituted before June 1. Otherwise, the matter will be settled through the mediation of EU Administration official Christian Schwartz Schilling and the final decision will lay with Administrator Hans Koschnik.
