ZAGREB, May 20 (Hina) - Head of the ICRC (International Committee
of the Red Cross) Mission in Zagreb, Alex Braunwalder described
today' gathering outside the Red Cross seat as "not so much a
protest as a commemoration, aimed at keeping the memory of the
missing and detained alive."
In a statement for Hina, Braunwalder detailed Red Cross
efforts in the search for the missing and the detained.
He described last month's meeting between Croatian and Serbian
missing persons officials as "encouraging."
The next meeting should be held in Belgrade in the very near
future, Braunwalder said, but stressed that ICRC representatives
were only present at these meetings as neutral observers and had no
official standing.
However, it was necessary to forward all the data on missing
and detained persons to ICRC if an efficient search was to be
conducted, Braunwalder stressed.
