OSIJEK, May 18 (Hina) - Croatian government officials and
representatives of international humanitarian organisations met in
the eastern city of Osijek today to look at the ways of boosting
cooperation and coordination in providing assistance to displaced
persons, refugees and the poor.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the UNHCR,
international relief agencies, the Croatian government Office for
refugees and displaced persons and regional authorities.
Thirty percent of all displaced persons have been accommodated
in eastern Croatia.
The uneven distribution of international humanitarian aid led
to a growing number of destitute Croats, Hungarians and other non-
Serbs, the meeting said.
Local county representatives called on international
humanitarian organisations to continue their work after the return
of displaced persons and to help in the reconstruction of houses
and flats destroyed during the war.
