PAKRAC, LIPIK, May 16 (Hina) - Normal civilian life is returning to
the Pakrac area.
Croatian Electric Utility workers are fixing high-voltage and
street power lines this morning. There is a crowd in front of
registry offices in Japaga and Seovica villages. About 300
citizenship certificates have already been issued, and 600 people
are waiting to file their requests.
According to Mladen Ivanovic of the Administration Ministry,
the Ministry staff together with Justice Ministry officials have
talked to about a thousand Serb residents to inform them of their
rights.
UN Civil Affairs chief Michael Moussali said yesterday the
Croatian authorities and police were "correct" in their treatment
of civilians. He offered the assistance and cooperation of
international bodies.
The Croatian Govt. Cordinator for western Slavonia, Minister
Ivan Majdak, yesterday talked with western Slavonia county prefects
about organising work in the local firms and reopening cattle
fairs.
