ZAGREB, May 11 (Hina) - Croatia's Defence and National Security
Council today held a session chaired by President of the Republic
Franjo Tudjman, a Presidential Office statement said.
The Council discussed the situation in Western Slavonia
after it had been liberated a week ago, including the
establishment of Croatian authority and the constitutional and
legal system, the reconstruction of war-damaged infrastructure,
and the restoration of social and economic services.
Also discussed was the construction of accommodation
facilities in the region to secure the return of refugees by the
beginning of the next school year, and efforts to help Serbs
integrate into municipal and county administrations in line with
the Constitutional Act.
The Council decided that the fifth anniversary of the
establishment of the Croatian state would be marked from 28 to 30
May, when cultural and sports events would also be held, the
statement concluded.
