MOSCOW, May 9 (Hina) - After attending a parade of the Great
Patriotic War veterans today in Moscow, in honour of the 50th
anniversary of the victory over fascism, Croatian President Franjo
Tudjman visited the Croatian Embassy in the Russian Federation.
According to a statement from the President's Office, Tudjman
visited the new embassy building, met members of the Croatian
diplomatic mission, and talked with Croatian business people
working in the Russian Federation.
Tudjman emphasized the importance of the Russian market for
the Croatian economy and was informed about achievements and
difficulties Croatian business people were encountering in the
promotion of the Croatian economy in the Federation, the statement
said.
The Russian Federation was Croatia's fourth most important
trade partner and that offered great possibilities for the further
development of business relations, they said.
A precondition for this was that the Croatian economic policy
define several common grounds of interest.
This afternoon, President Tudjman would attend the opening of
a memorial site in honour of the 50th anniversary of the victory
over fascism in Kutuzov Avenue, the laying of wreaths on the grave
of the Unknown Hero and a dinner reception in the Kremlin, held by
the President of the Russian Federation, Boris Yeltsin, the
statement said.
