SLOVENE, CROATIAN FOREIGN MINISTERS MEET IN LJUBLJANA

Autor:
LJUBLJANA, April 10 (Hina) - Slovenia's Foreign Minister, Zoran Thaler, today met for talks with his Croatian counterpart, Mate Granic. The two agreed that Prime Ministers Janez Drnovsek of Slovenia and Nikica Valentic of Croatia would meet in Zagreb on May 16. Until that time the two countries would try to work out bilateral agreements to solve the problems of Ljubljanska Banka, the Krsko nuclear power plant and the border, while agreements on fisheries and border traffic were practically ready for signing. Thaler told reporters after the talks that a lot of progress was made in negotiations on the Krsko nuclear power plant and that the property relations agreement had been finalized and brought into accord. As far as agreements on the Zagreb branch of Ljubljanska Banka and the border were concerned, Thaler said that certain clarifications were yet to be made. Granic said that Slovenia was a friendly country and that solving all open issues with neighbouring countries and entering European integrations were Croatia's priorities coming right after the reintegration of its occupied territories. Thaler said that it should be ensured that all agreements were harmonized at expert levels before the meeting of the two prime ministers. If this failed, then the issue should be solved at the highest political level, he added. Responding to a question on delimitation in Piran Bay, Granic said that before the two prime ministers met in Zagreb, a joint diplomatic mission for borders would meet to define elements of the future agreement. The Croatian delegation was also received today by Slovene Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek. (hina) vm 101801 MET apr 95
