ZAGREB, March 24 (Hina) - The co-chairman of the International
Conference on the Former Yugoslavia (ICFY), Thorvald Stoltenberg,
said his meeting last night with Croatian President Franjo
Tudjman was part of the consultation process before the adoption
of a resolution on a new model of international forces in
Croatia.
Stoltenberg told reporters in Zagreb that he was in the
middle of consultations with key political figures, the results
of which he would report to the UN secretary general.
The report should provide the Secretary General with a basis
for a Security Council report before a resolution is passed on a
new mandate, he added.
Stoltenberg said: "I believe we're closer to a new mandate
and at this point it wouldn't be wise to give any details." He
added that preparations for a new resolution were under way.
Stoltenberg declined to comment on his meeting with Bosnian
Serb leader Radovan Karadzic which took place earlier yesterday.
