ZAGREB, March 10 (Hina) - The House of Representatives today
adopted a long-term agricultural development project, proposed by
the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
"We are on the threshold of a new agricultural policy,"
Minister Gazi said.
The new policy would encourage the development of family farms
and boost the productivity of big state-owned industrial farms.
The House also ratified a convention banning the development,
production and use of chemical weapons.
The House then adjourned until Tuesday, March 14.
The House of Counties today discussed a draft bill on the
restitution of property, but there was no quorum for a vote.
A group of HSS Members (Croatian Farmers' Party) proposed a
draft bill on encouraging marriage between people over 30 (women)
and 35 years (men).
Many Members took the floor to enthuse about the draft bill.
The Speaker, Katica Ivanisevic, proposed that a special
commission be set up to deal with the matter.
