SARAJEVO, Feb 15 (Hina) - NATO officials yesterday visited Tuzla in
northeastern Bosnia-Herzegovina to investigate recently reported
mysterious flights over the area, UNPROFOR spokesman in Sarajevo
Gary Coward said today.
Last Friday and Sunday, UN military observers heard cargo and
fighter planes flying over Tuzla, but AWACS radars and NATO
airplanes could not detect anything.
But the investigation failed to produce any details,
Coward said.
Bosnian government army officials refused to allow UN
personnel to inspect hangars in a part of Tuzla airport where
planes could have landed.
UNPROFOR commander in Bosnia General Rupert Smith yesterday
met Bosnian Serb commander Ratko Mladic to discuss the matter.
Mladic threatened that Serb forces would take appropriate
measures should similar incidents occur again.
