ZAGREB, Jan 15 (Hina) - To protect life and property of Croatian
citizens, to demilitarize temporarily occupied Croatian areas and
to establish law and order as well as the constitution of the
Republic of Croatia in its entire territory were the requests of
inhabitants of, and those who were born in, Croatian towns of
Drnis, Promina, Ruzic, Unesic, Kijevo, Knin, Vrlika and Krusevo.
The requests were expressed at today's meeting of their
associations in the Zagreb concert hall of Vatroslav Lisinski.
The meeting was attended by several hundred people, most of
whom displaced persons from the towns.
The participants in the meeting expressed full support to
Croatian President Franjo Tudjman and his decision to end the
UNPROFOR mandate in the country. They supported the reintegration
of the occupied Croatian areas and return of the displaced people
to home.
On behalf of the Croatian Government Ivica Kostovic addressed
the gathered participants.
Kostovic called on the displaced people to be patient and
steadfast.
Speaking of the inefficiency of the UN Protection Force
(UNPROFOR), he said more than 7,000 have been expelled from the
occupied areas, and more than 600 killed (mostly in UNPA Sector
East) since the UN peace keepers' arrival there.
