ZAGREB, Jan 3 (Hina) - The agreement on cessation of hostilities in
Bosnia-Herzegovina signed by Bosnian Moslems and Bosnian Serbs was
still holding, apart from 20 registered ceasefire violations
yesterday, UN spokesman in Zagreb Thant Myint-U said today.
Moslem separatist Fikret Abdic also agreed to sign the
agreement, Myint-U said, but, neither Bosnian army Fifth Corps
commander general Atif Dudakovic nor Fikret Abdic had as yet signed
any formal document.
Rebel Serbs in Croatia, who were involved in clashes in the
Bihac pocket, also had not signed the agreement, UN spokesman
Michael Williams said. UNPROFOR believed that rebel Serbs would
respect the agreement and that they would agree to withdraw their
troops from Bihac "to a certain point", Williams said.
UNPROFOR military commander General Bertrand de Lapresle
on Monday met Croatian rebel Serbs leader Borislav Mikelic at the
Zagreb UNPROFOR base to discuss Croatian rebel Serbs withdrawal
from Bihac area and clear passage for UN Bihac-bound convoys.
Co-chairmen of the International Conference on Former
Yugoslavia Lord David Owen and Thorvald Stoltenberg and Croatian
rebel Serb representatives met in Knin Monday, to discuss
implementation of the December 2 economic agreement, Williams said.
Owen and Stoltenberg were expected to arrive in Zagreb
today, but because of the "poor weather conditions" they proceeded
to Belgrade instead to meet Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic,
Williams said.
The Co-chairmen are due in Zagreb tonight or tomorrow
morning, Williams added.
