CONST $ ITUTION ZAGREB, Dec 18 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament House of Representatives on Wednesday ended a discussion on amendments to the Constitutional Law on the implementation of the Constitution of Croatia, by which the deadline for conforming the law with the Constitution would be extended to 31 December 1997. The House will continue its extraordinary session on Thursday when it will discuss the draft State Budget for 1997, which is in its second reading. #L# On adopting the Constitution on 22 December 1990, the Parliament had introduced a provision by which laws had to be conformed to the Constitution within a year, head of the government Legislative Office, Marijan Prus, recalled. "This is an extensive and demanding task, so the Parliament had the deadline extended several times," Prus said, stressing that the government had submitted more than 120 bills to the House of Representatives last year alone. However, he added, there still remained some two dozen spheres in which laws had to be conformed to the Constitution. So far, the Parliament has extended the deadline for conforming laws with the Constitution four times. (hina) lm mm 181748 MET dec 96
