STARA GRADISKA, 13 Dec (Hina) - The Hungarian Defence Minister
Gyoergy Keleti on Friday visited the Hungarian engineering
battalion in the international Implementation Force, stationed in
Pustara near Stara Gradiska, western Slavonia.
Recalling that Hungarian engineers had reconstructed 19
bridges on the Croatian-Bosnian border, a 60-km-long railway line
and many local roads, as well as that they had helped in the
normalization of life in war-destroyed areas, Keleti presented 20
members of the battalion with medals. Eight officers and non-
commissioned officers were promoted.
By 23 December, a larger part of the unit which numbers 300
soldiers will leave for Hungary. They will be replaced by some 200
soldiers, who are already preparing for the arrival.
Government Commissioner for Okucani municipality (western
Slavonia), Drazen Japundzic, presented Keleti with a diploma and a
monograph entitled 'Croatia' for the help of the Hungarian people
in the reconstruction of the municipal infrastructure in Okucani.
