ZAGREB, Dec 4 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament's House of
Representatives concluded Wednesday's session with a discussion on
the delay of the Value Added Tax Act and on draft amendments to
this law.
The Istrian Democratic Alliance (IDS) said that all
preparations were made and conditions were met for the VAT Act to
enter into force on January 1, 1997.
IDS deputy Damir Kajin said that the introduction of the VAT
would only be to the benefit of the Croatian economy.
The Legislature Committee backed the Government's proposal for
the postponement of the VAT.
The Peasant Party and the Social Liberal Party supported the
IDS proposal while the Social Democratic Party proposed the
application of the VAT be delayed.
