ZAGREB, Nov 28 (Hina) - The presidency of the Croatian Democratic
Union (HDZ) party convened on Thursday under the chairmanship of
President Franjo Tudjman to discuss and take a stand on current
political issues in the country, the office of the HDZ secretary
general said in a statement.
"The presidency particularly discussed various unacceptable
attempts at interfering in the internal affairs of the Republic
of Croatia, especially ever-increasing forms of the foreign
financing of various foundations, associations and individuals
with the aim of interfering in almost all areas of Croatian
public life, and the most frequent forms of such activities are
outside the legal framework of the Croatian state.
"The purpose of these activities, which are also expressed
in written instructions by their financiers, is to destabilize
the HDZ and the state administration and to weaken Croatia's
international position, which brings to attention the necessity
of making the legal system capable of preventing activities
which are not in conformity with the constitutional and legal
system of the Republic of Croatia," the statement said.
The presidency said it was determined to consider all issues
and inform adequately and in time its membership and the public.
The presidency called a session of the HDZ general board for
December 7.
