ZAGREB, Nov 26 (Hina) - Following the Croatian Government's
proposal, the disciplinary tribunal of the Croatian State Judicial
Council (DSV), Tuesday made a ruling on suspension of Krunislav
Olujic as the Supreme Court President and judge pending the
completion of the disciplinary procedure that has been instigated
because of grave disciplinary breaches of inflicting damage on the
Court's reputation and judges' duties, the State Judicial Council
stated this evening.
The statement said the disciplinary procedure against Olujic
had been taken for reasonable doubt that while being in office of
the Croatian Supreme Court President from January to August 1996,
Mr. Olujic had "sexual relationship with persons under age,
meetings with whom have been previously arranged for him by his
friend Branimir Culina from Osijek, who had a long criminal
record."
There is also reasonable doubt that since April 1995, by his
influence and connections, Olujic has helped and interceded for
Branimir Culina and Samir Sabanovic, although he learnt of their
"criminal activities".
Branimir Culina is said in the statement to have participated
"in appropriating 67 tonnes of sugar from goods depot at Samobor
(outside Zagreb), and to have obtained "illegally business premises
in Teslina Street (the Zagreb downtown)". Samir Sabanovic is said
to have been sentenced several times for "criminal offences."
