SARAJEVO, Nov 20 (Hina) - The situation in Mostar has been
stabilized since the commissioner of the international police force
in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Peter Fitzgerald, issued an ultimatum to
local authorities that special police troops and armed civilian
guards should pull out, a spokesman for the United Nations said in
Sarajevo on Wednesday.
The spokesman Ivanko described the stabilization as the first
good news from Mostar after quite a while, and added that there
were no indications any more of the presence of special police or
private guards in the Mostar area. The IFOR and international
policemen will continue to patrol regularly in order to ensure the
full respect of the ultimatum, according to Ivanko.
