The talks also focused on the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina,
with the US side expressing wish for Croatia's support in the
implementation of what had been agreed so far.
The Croatian representatives pointed out the insufficient
representation of Croats in different programmes of the Bosnian
Federation, especially in the programme of equipping and training
of the Federation's armed forces.
During their visit, the delegation also held talks with US
Defense Secretary William Perry, US President's advisor for
national security Anthony Lake and deputy State Secretary Strobe
Talbott about the reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area and
other Croatia's domestic issues, as well as the situation in the
neighbouring Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The Croatian Defense Ministry delegation signed an agreement
with the US company Bell Helicopter Textron Inc. on the purchase of
ten helicopters for the use of the Croatian air force.
A delegation of the US Defense Ministry is next month to visit
Croatia and hold a two-day seminar on American experiences in
defense planning, including planning the defense budget.
