The meeting, organised by the Finance Ministry, focused on
details of the bill relating to international experiences and
solutions and implementation of public purchase.
Croatia's Deputy Finance Minister Josip Kulisic said that the
bill was aimed at regulating the area of purchase of commodities
and services and contract awarding, so that it could be made
transparent and internationally competitive.
World Bank could help Croatia in many ways, from technical,
advisory and legal help to the provision of financial means, Sethi
said, adding that the Bank's main aim was to provide help in the
economic development of the country.
Sethi described the Parliament bill as positive, adding that
aims envisaged by the bill were in line with international practice
and experience.
The bill was a huge step toward Croatia's joining
international institutions, the European Union and World Trade
Organisation, Sethi said.
The bill envisaged a decentralized purchase of goods, as well
as a public purchase of all goods and services and contract
awarding exceeding 200,000 kunas.
