FORMER EU ADMINISTRATOR CASADO VISITS MOSTAR

MOSTAR, Oct 24 (Hina) - A former EU Administrator of Mostar, Spaniard Ricardo Peres Casado, on Thursday met the EU envoy to Mostar Sir Martin Garrod, Mostar Mayor Ivica Prskalo and his deputy Safet Orucevic. Arriving in Mostar as an representative of the Spanish town of Valencia Casado said he wanted to come as he felt in Mostar "as at home". Casado had spent almost three months in capacity as a EU Administrator of that southern Bosnian-Herzegovinian town. During his term of office June municipal elections had been held in the town. Casado informed his hosts that Valencia had decided to earmark about one million marks for Mostar in 1997. He announced a Valencia delegation's visit to the Herzegovinian town in late November for discussion on projects where the allocated funds may be invested. Prskalo and Orucevic expressed pleasure with Casado's visit to the town. Mayor Prskalo warned that a rise in tension represented a reason for concern. After the meeting Orucevic told journalists that the Mostar unified police force would soon get the police superintendent. A police superintendent will be rotated every month, and the first one will be of Bosniak-Moslem origin, according to an agreement achieved on the Bosnia-Herzegovina's Federation Forum.
