PRISTINA, Oct 12 (Hina) - Shortly after the midnight, October 12,
unknown perpetrators desecrated 62 tombstones of ethnic Albanians
around five mosques at the town of Pec on Kosovo (southern
Yugoslavia), the (Albanian) Kosovo information centre reported on
Saturday.
Gravestones of Albanian patriots Haxhi Zeko, Ali Pasha Gucia
and other eminent people from Albanian history were damaged.
Besides, a door was broken and a mausoleum (called 'turbe') burnt
down at the courtyard of Hamam-Mosque, the same source said.
Pec Albanians protested against such barbarian acts that had
caused disturbance among ethnic Albanian population.
In the meantime Serbia's police, that has not yet officially
commented on events, arrived at the yard of one of mosques in Pec.
