RIJEKA, Oct 1 (Hina) - A short story by the well-known Croatian
19th century writer, Janko Polic Kamov, entitled "Freedom," was
published in the latest issue of the American cultural magazine
"Grand Street."
"This is an important event for Croatian literature," said
Mladen Urem, editor-in-chief of the Rijeka-based literary magazine
"Rival," which sponsored the translation and publication of Kamov's
short story.
To commemorate the 110th anniversary of the writer's birth,
"Rival" is planning to organise the publication of Kamov's literary
opus in various periodicals in London, Boston, Muenchen and
Barcelona. A collection of Kamov's poems and short stories in
English will also be published in Rijeka, Urem announced.
The Rijeka local authority has provided part of the funding
for the projects.
