PULA, Sept 30 (Hina) - A day-long international meeting of members
of the World War Two antifascist movement closed in the northern
Croatian coastal town of Pula on Monday evening with an appeal to
governments to respect the rights of antifascist fighters and with
a condemnation of the revival of Nazi-fascism.
The previously recognized rights of antifascist war veterans,
invalids and war victims have been unjustly abolished or reduced in
some countries, including Croatia, the meeting said in a final
document.
Antifascist fighters demand equal rights for all veterans,
invalids and war victims, regardless of the wars in which they
participated.
"The meeting of the antifascist fighters of European countries
condemns the rewriting of history by concealing the truth about the
antifascist and anti-Nazi struggle, particularly in school
textbooks. The meeting condemns the glorification of Nazi-fascism,
its servants and symbols, which has taken on disturbing proportions
in some countries," the document said.
The document denounced ethnic cleansing as "a Nazi-style
method of destroying nations."
Antifascist fighters supported an agreement on the
normalization of relations between Croatia and Yugoslavia, and the
Dayton peace agreement for Bosnia-Herzegovina.
