ZAGREB, Sept 14 (Hina) - The main topic of the Third International
Conference of Women - Parliament Chambers' Presidents, to take
place in the Swedish capital of Stockholm from 15 to 17 September,
would be the representation of women in the parliaments of the
world and the maintenance of human rights, especially those of
women, president of the Croatian parliament's Upper House Katica
Ivanisevic said at the Zagreb airport on Saturday, before leaving
for the Conference.
There were only 14 women in the world acting as parliament
presidents, four of them from Europe (Norway, Finland, Germany and
Croatia), together with the Conference's host, Swedish parliament
president, Ivanisevic told reporters, adding that the fact that
Croatia was taking part in the Conference proved "our new
democratic orientations".
"I will have several meetings there and will try to present
Croatia as a mature, democratic and western-oriented country",
Ivanisevic concluded.
