MOSTAR, 2 Sept (Hina) - 'The Croat Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia will
transfer its authority to the institutions of the Federation of
Bosnia-Herzegovina and its cantonal institutions', the acting
president of the Herzeg-Bosnian Presidential Council Ivan Bender
told the Croatian news agency Hina Monday. Herzeg-Bosnia would
cease to exist after institutions which would take over its
authority were formed, Bender said. #L#
Commenting on a statement by the Bosnian premier Hasan
Muratovic that there would be no elections in Bosnia on 14
September if by that date Herzeg-Bosnia was not completely
dismantled, Bender said that there would be no one-sided
dissolution of Herzeg-Bosnia. He added that the authority of both
Herzeg-Bosnia and the Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina would be
transferred to the Federation simultaneously. 'There will be no
lawlessness on the ground as it is neither in our interest nor in
the interest of the international community'.
Asked whether the transfer of authority could cause
difficulties in the conduct of Bosnian elections, Bender said that
there were 'neither formal nor legal nor any other reasons why the
elections should not be held'.
'If our federal partner is not satisfied with certain
solutions and failed to do on the ground what he was supposed to
do, then it is up to him to solve it', Bender added, announcing
that the Croat community of Herzeg-Bosnia would be formed instead
of the Croat Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia. The Croat community would
not have state institutions and state attributes', Bender said.
