RIJEKA, 28 Aug (Hina) - Rijeka County police had seized 20,000
counterfeit U.S. dollars in the area of Gorski Kotar. The money was
in 100-dollar banknotes, Rijeka police representative Ivan
Katalinic told a press conference on Wednesday.
Judging from the quality of the counterfeit banknotes it was
possible that the police were dealing with an international chain
of money forgers. The counterfeit banknotes had been found with
C.S. (born 1936) from Naples, Italy and N.K. (born 1952) from
Gomirje, Croatia, who had been brought before the Rijeka County
court investigating judge.
Both persons had carried pistols with silencers and were known
to the police, Katalinic said.
The Croatian and Italian police forces were investigating the
case together with the aim of discovering the house where forged
money was printed.
