CRO PARLIAMENT SPEAKER RECEIVES HOMELAND WAR INVALIDS' REPS

ZAGREB, Aug 27 (Hina) - President of the Croatian Parliament Vlatko Pavletic on Tuesday received a delegation of Croatian Homeland War Invalids (HVIDRA) headed by president Marinko Liovic. The talks focused on unresolved issues such as low pensions, problems of residence, employment of invalids, and irregularities in the realization of the rights of invalids and Homeland war soldiers. HVIDRA members consider the executive authority responsible for the problems which does not implement laws on time. HVIDRA also requested a revision of the resolution on invalidity. Out of 18,900 homeland war invalids, some 7,000 enjoyed the status of invalids without foundation, thus diminishing the rights of those who deserved them, HVIDRA representatives said. They said that many unresolved issues were the reason for the protest announced for September 15 in Zagreb. Pavletic informed the delegation that the government would enter into the Parliament procedure a new bill on care for Croatian homeland war soldiers and their families. The bill which had been initiated by homeland war invalids in June, will be on the agenda of the second day of the Parliament session which is to convene in mid-September.
