SARAJEVO, Aug 25 (Hina) - President of the Party for Bosnia-
Herzegovina Haris Silajdzic on Saturday announced the possibility
of boycotting the upcoming September elections.
At a pre-election gathering in Berlin, Silajdzic said that "to
accept the elections under such conditions would mean to act
against the rights of people who had been exiled from their homes
under the threat of death," a statement from the party's centre in
Sarajevo said on Sunday.
Silajdzic also warned that such actions would represent
assistance to the aggressor in the accomplishment of his goals, the
statement said.
Commenting the stance of the international community as
regards the holding of the elections, Silajdzic stressed that
nobody had the right to ask Bosnian citizens to act against
themselves.
"We understand the priorities of western countries, but when
it comes to the violation of interests and basic rights of our
citizens, we absolutely have to refuse," Silajdzic said in Berlin.
