STARI GRAD, August 25 (Hina) - The 21st international swimming
contest in the "Faros Marathon" began in Stari Grad on the Croatian
island of Hvar on Sunday under the auspices of Split County Prefect
Kruno Peronja.
The marathon, opened by Croatian Minister of Maritime Affairs,
Transport and Connections, Zeljko Luzavec, gathers 43 men and women
from Croatia, South America, Europe and Asia, who swim on 16 km.
Opening the contest Luzavec expressed satisfaction with the
fact that this was the first international sport contest in Croatia
after the liberation of the country and the beginning of the
economic reconstruction started by a promising tourist season.
