ZAGREB, August 13 (Hina) - President of the Zagreb City Assembly,
Zdravko Tomac, on Tuesday received the incoming Macedonian
Ambassador to Croatia Servet Avziu and advisor at the Macedonian
Embassy Ljiljana Naumova-Marcetik.
Tomac pointed out that between "the friendly countries of
Croatia and Macedonia there have never been open issues", adding
that, during his recent visit to Macedonia and talks with its
officials, he had asserted that economic cooperation between the
two countries amounted to barely 10 percent of the cooperation
before the war.
Tomac endorsed an overall improvement of relations between the
capitals of Zagreb and Skopje, adding that Zagreb was interested in
importing inexpensive and good-quality fruit and vegetables from
Macedonia.
Ambassador Avziu also supported the development of the all-
round friendly relations between the two countries, saying that the
basic aim of his mandate in Croatia was to raise economic
cooperation to the pre-war level, particularly in the placing of
Macedonian fruit and vegetables on the Croatian market.
