ZAGREB, August 7 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on
Wednesday flew to Athena at the invitation of Greek Premier
Konstantinos Simitis for talks with Serbian President Slobodan
Milosevic.
Before departure, Tudjman told reporters at the Zagreb Pleso
airport that the Dayton Agreement had brought a cease-fire. "From
then until now an intense diplomatic-political activity has been
going on on all levels, from the European Union to the U.S. in
order to create bases for peace and future stability of the new
international system", Tudjman said, pointing out that "the most
important issue in this regard is the normalization of relations
between Croatia and Serbia, that is Yugoslavia, which is the aim of
the visit".
Tudjman stressed that Greece contributed to a fast
normalization of these relations because of its ties to Europe from
the very beginning.
Accompanying the Croatian President to Athena are Foreign
Minister Mate Granic, his Deputy Ivan Simonovic and the President's
Advisor for Foreign Affairs Zeljko Matic.
