MOSTAR, Aug 5 (Hina) - "I am sure that the European Union won't
leave its job undone and leave Mostar," western Mostar mayor Mijo
Brajkovic told a press conference on Monday, a litle after the
expiry of the 19:00 deadline for reaching an agreement on the
arrangement of Mostar.
"Regarding the 'concerted action' agreement, we offered our
version of the document to the EU yesterday. The EU Administration
amended it and offered it to both sides. We signed it," Brajkovic
said.
"Under this document, the City Council was to convene on Aug
8, appoint a mayor and a deputy mayor. However, the functioning of
these bodies was to be suspended until the Federation Supreme Court
ruled on our appeal over the results posted at the polling place in
Bonn, Germany, which we affirm have been rigged," Brajkovic said.
"This morning, we offered the EU Aministration a new version
of the agreement which is the same as our previous version. We are
waiting for the reactions of the EU Administration and the Moslem
side," he said.
"When everything's said and done, we are in favour of the EU
Administration staying in Mostar, we are in favour of the
'concerted action' agreement and a positive continuation of
political processes in Mostar," Brajkovic concluded.
