SARAJEVO, June 17 (Hina) - Applications from 47 political parties
and 29 independent candidates who want to run in the upcoming
elections in September have arrived at the headquarters of the
Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in
Sarajevo, so far, OSCE spokeswoman in Sarajevo Joanna van Vliet
said, stressing that the final decision on whose applications would
be admitted would be known after lists with supporters' signatures
were checked.
IFOR representative in Sarajevo David Eccles said that special
headquarters had been established within the framework of NATO
forces, with the task of establishing what had to be done in order
for the elections to take place normally, not just the general
elections, but also those in Mostar in late June.
He said that IFOR would soon begin a campaign, via radio and
television, which would inform the public about the importance of
the upcoming elections and the regulations.
Electoral lists have been printed in Italy with IFOR's help,
and have been delivered to Bosnia on Monday in their final version.
