ZAGREB, 6 June (Hina) - After his meeting with Croatian President
Franjo Tudjman, IFOR chief commander, Admiral Leighton Smith gave a
statement in which he described NATO's role in the Bosnia peace
process as very positive.
He added he did not think there was any other organisation in
the whole world which could gather 34 countries for the Bosnia
peace mission and complete the task it had been entrusted with.
The difficult part of the job was yet to come - the
implementation of the civil part of the agreement, Admiral Smith
added.
He thanked President Tudjman for cooperation in the
implementation of the Bosnia peace agreement.
Admiral Smith, whose retirement was announced by the Pentagon
on Thursday, denied reports saying he resigned from the post of
IFOR chief commander.
