DJAKOVO, June 2 (Hina) - A wreath-laying ceremony in
commemoration of Holocaust victims was held on Sunday in the
Jewish cemetery in the eastern Croatian town of Djakovo.
More than 2,000 Jews passed through the "Masinka"
concentration camp from the summer of 1941 to the spring of 1942,
and 600 were buried in Djakovo's Jewish cemetery. The names of
all victims were preserved.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Jewish
communities from Zagreb, Osijek, Vinkovci and the Hungarian town
of Pecs. Representatives of the Osijek and Djakovo municipal
authorities were also present.
