BUDAPEST, May 29 (Hina) - The European Conference of Transport
Ministers was opened in Budapest today by the Hungarian Prime
Minister Gyula Horn. The three-day conference is attended by 31
European transport ministers as well as their colleagues from the
US, Canada, Japan and other non-European countries.
The aim of the conference is to find ways to ensure a cheaper
and more efficient transport of goods and passengers and promote
the development of transport infrastructure.
The Croatian delegation is led by Transport and Communication
Minister Zeljko Luzavec, who today met for bilateral talks with his
Hungarian counterpart Karoly Lotz.
The pair discussed the improvement of railway traffic on the
Budapest-Zagreb-Rijeka line and building a highway between Rijeka
and Siofok, as well as possible concessions for the building of a
free zone at the Rijeka port.
The conference is to be wrapped up on Friday.
