ZAGREB, May 14 (Hina) - The Zagreb-based daily VJESNIK runs a
front-page article in its Tuesday edition on the Monday session of
the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers.
The fifteen ministers called for a decision on the admission
of Croatia to the Council of Europe to be taken "before summer, if
possible," said the article.
"War Drums of Haris Silajdzic?" is the headline of an article
commenting on statements by the former Bosnian prime minister and
now the president of the Party for Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Vjesnik comments on parts of an International Monetary Fund
report on prospects for development of the Croatian economy, in an
article headlined "Croatia Will Also Have to Halve Public
Spending."
Another Zagreb-based daily VECERNJI LIST covers the Council of
Europe meeting in Brussels under the headline "Ministers Divided on
Croatia's Accession."
Vecernji List comments on relations between Croatia and Serb-
led Yugoslavia in an article headlined "Politics Behind Economy."
"Surprised 'pundits'" is the headline of a Vecernji List
commentary on a Constitutional Court ruling to quash a Government
decision on dissolving the Zagreb City Council.
The article says that the final solution to the local
government crisis in Zagreb will have to be sought through
elections and that the Constitutional Court decision was an
important confirmation of democracy in Croatia.
