GENEVA, Apr 22 (Hina) - Croatia's permanent representative at the
UN headquarters in Geneva, Neven Madey, today addressed a
conference of countries adhering to the Convention on Banning
Conventional Weapons.
Croatian supported the efforts to limit the production, sale
and use of anti-personnel mines, Madej said.
Over 270 children were killed and over a thousand were maimed
by mines between 1991 and 1996, Madej said.
Croatia neither manufactured nor imported mines, he said,
adding that Croatia supported a proposal to establish a UN Mine
Centre in Croatia, with headquarters in New York and an office in
Zagreb.
