ZAGREB, Apr 10 (Hina) - Croatian President Frano Tudjman today
decorated several scientists, the President's office said in a
statement.
Following is the full text of the statement:
"Decorations were awarded to the following scientists:
- Stjepan Antoljak (Order of the Croatian Morning Star with the
figure of Rugjer Boskovic);
- Nikola Bicanic (Order of Stjepana Radic);
- Jakov Bienenfeld (Order of the Croatian Wicker);
- Miroslav Brandt (Order of the Croatian Morning Star with the
figure of Rugjer Boskovic);
- Ante Glavicic (Order of the Croatian Morning Star with the
figure of Marko Marulic);
- Radovan Grgec (Order of Stjepan Radic, Order of the Croatian
Morning Star with the figure of Marko Marulic);
- Friar Karlo Jurisic (Order of the Croatian Morning Star with the
figure of Marko Marulic, Order of the Croatian Morning Star with
the figure of Antun Radic);
- Ivo Kujundzic (Order of Stjepan Radic);
- Ivo Peric (Order of the Croatian Morning Star with the figure of
Marko Marulic);
- Valentin Putanec (Order of the Croatian Morning Star with the
figure of Rugjer Boskovic);
- Joja Ricov (Order of Stjepan Radic);
- Ante Sekulic (Order of Stjepan Radic);
- Mate Simundic (Order of the Croatian Morning Star with the figure
of Marko Marulic);
- Josip Sojat (Order of Stjepan Radic, Order of the Croatian
Morning Star with the figure of Rugjer Boskovic);
- Ivan Sovic (Order of the Croatian Morning Star with the figure of
Antun Radic);
- Vjeko Vrcic (Order of the Croatian Morning Star with the figure
of Marko Marulic);
- Ante Vukasovic (Order of the Croatian Morning Star with the
figure of Antun Radic);
- Benedikta Zelic (Order of the Croatian Morning Star with the
figure of Marko Marulic);
- Vladimir Zerjavic (Order of the Croatian Morning Star with the
figure of Antun Radic).
Presenting the decorations, President Franjo Tudjman said:
"I am happy to award you these decorations as a sign of your
creativity, your suffering in the process of establishing the
Croatian freedom and democracy and your contributions to the
cultural, scientific and economic life in our independent and
sovereign Croatian state. I congratulate you on these decorations."
"Take them as a sign of the homeland's appreciation for what
you have done and an incentive to continue to work in this spirit
and set an example to younger generations," he said.
Prof. Stjepan Antoljak thanked President Tudjman for the
decorations, stressing that it was thanks to him that Croatia and
the Croatian people finally achieved independence.
"This has fulfilled the centuries-old longing of all Croatian
generations to have their state, which will be the guarantee of a
bright future for centuries to come," Antoljak said.
Present were the President's chief-of-staff, Ivo Sanader, the
President's home policy advisor Ivic Pasalic, President's advisor
on social activities, Zlatko Canjuga, the President's advisor on
humanitarian issues, Slobodan Lang, advisor Andjelko Mijatovic,
head of the President's cabinet Gordan Radin, head of the
President's military cabinet, Miljenko Crnjac and assistant chief-
of-staff, Vesna Scare Ozbolt."
