ZAGREB, March 27 (Hina) - The House of Representatives this morning
debated a Student Corps Bill.
Presenting the Bill, Science Minister Ivica Kostovic said its
main goal was to regulate the position of students as equal
partners in the management of universities.
Through a new umbrella organization, the Student Corps,
student representatives would participate in university decision-
making, Kostovic explained.
On behalf of the HDZ Bench, Mario Kapulica voiced utmost
satisfaction with the Bill.
Opposition members, however, had other ideas. To listen to
them, the Bill was incomplete, unclear in wording and intention and
altogether unnecessary.
Minority representative Furio Radin said it was impossible to
regulate such a complex field, involving a
"special population" by a single Act. He was seconded by Drago
Krpina (HDZ) who spoke up against the "imposition of a monolith
approach" as "anti-democratic and wrong."
