OSIJEK, 26 March (Hina) - Tuesday evening Transitional
Administrator for Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and Western Srijem,
Jacques Klein, discussed in Osijek peaceful reintegration with
representatives of the Government, state institutions, DPs,
humanitarian organizations and businessmen of the Osijek-Baranja
and Vukovar-Srijem counties. The talks were also attended by Ivica
Vrkic, Head of the Government Office for Temporary Administration
for Re-establishment of Croatian Government in the areas of eastern
Slavonia, Baranja and Western Srijem. Speaking about priorities and
the role of his Transitional Administration General Klein stressed
the next stage is deployment of the 5,000 strong contingent. Once
UNTAES commander Gen. Joseph Schoups reports the deployment is
completed and Gen. Klein takes over a 30 day demilitarization term
will commence.
"There is no reason to believe the process will not be
successful, considering that the other party said it was ready to
go along. I am optimistic," reiterated Gen. Klein, adding both
Zagreb and Belgrade pledged their commitment to a peaceful
reintegration.
